Seated Acupressure Massage (SAM) is a type of massage based on ancient Japanese techniques that have been adapted for the modern world. It is received fully clothed on a specially designed chair that gives total support and is ultra comfortable allowing me to work on the areas that are traditionally affected by stress – the back, shoulders, neck, arms and head, especially when hunched over a desk all day.
SAM is very accessible, non invasive, and quick, with individual sessions lasting 15 or 20 minutes depending on the service required. Once the service has been set up all the company needs to do is supply a little room (an empty meeting room or corner of the office) and fill the booking sheet that will be supplied. I bring all my own equipment and liaise with the contact in the company with regards to late arrivals and no-shows. Breaks and lunch are factored into the day.
A full consultation is given before every session and each treatment is adapted to suit the individuals needs. To get the most benefit from Seated Acupressure Massage a regular monthly service is recommended however conferences and exhibitions, health awareness days, one off treats and bonuses, open days and ‘thank yous’ to clients are equally well received.
FAQ’s…
Q. Do I have to take my clothes off?
A. No. SAM is performed through the clothes on a specially designed chair using Japanese techniques that work directly on the areas that are affected by stress.
Q. So there’s no oil used then?
A. No. I use my elbows and forearms on specific acupressure points on the back, neck, shoulders, arms, and head to help relax tight muscles, all through the clothes.
Q. Will it put me to sleep?
A. Nope. SAM works on specific points on your body that have an energising effect, relaxing tight muscles but giving you renewed energy to get on with your day.
Q. I’m busy, will it take long?
A. No. Sessions are either 15 or 20 minutes long allowing me to see either 4 or 3 people an hour, a minimum of 6 people for 2 hours or a maximum of 24 people in a 6 hour day
Q. Will it mess my hair up?
A. Doesn’t have to. I work on shoulders, back, arms, neck and head but if you would rather any of these areas were left out just tell me. I am fully trained to the highest standard and have a wide repertoire of massage techniques to call upon.
Q. I’ve had a few health problems recently/take a lot of medication/I’m pregnant – can I still have a massage?
A. Before every massage (even short, event massages and repeats) a full consultation is given to ensure the massage is right for you and will be adapted if necessary. If at any point during your massage you feel uncomfortable please alert me and the appropriate actions will be taken.
Q. Are you going to hurt me?
A. No! Massage should never be uncomfortable. Using my elbows and forearms means I can work as softly or as deeply as you require. I am trained to the highest standard and will ask throughout the massage for feedback. Most people find the pressure to be a good ‘hurt’, what we call ‘thankful pain’ which actually feels good and positive.
Q. Is it expensive?
A. No. Because of the way the massage is performed I can treat a maximum of 24 people in a full day and a minimum of 6 for just 2 hours. It’s always very well received with 100% take up, making it a very cost effective and popular well being strategy for the company.
Q. Once I’ve booked in do I have to go somewhere or wear something specific?
A. No. I come to your place of work and all you have to do is turn up at the allocated room at your chosen time. I bring all my own equipment with me and all you have to do is loosen tight clothing, sit down and enjoy the experience. Alternatively I can work at your desk.
